Space for the both/and.

Life is nuanced, Reader.

As much as we crave the safety and certainty of putting all of life into tidy little categories...

Good or bad

Right or wrong

Light or dark…

Most of life exists within the both/and.

There have been times in my life where I’ve been both sad and excited about a new beginning. Both grateful for the privilege of loving someone deeply and grieving the loss of them. Both grounded in my path and uncertain of exactly where it will lead.

Allowing space for these dualities to exist within me has been oddly freeing.

Because there’s freedom in embracing our complexity. In choosing nuance over certainty. It allows us to explore and step into the full expression of ourselves that lies outside of those neatly labeled boxes that we (and others) have put ourselves in.

So, I’ll ask you…

Where in your life are you being asked to hold space for two seemingly opposite truths at once?

What part of you have you been hiding or quieting that’s ready to be heard, expressed, or explored?

How can you give yourself permission to be both a work in progress and worthy of love and support right now?

This willingness to witness and embrace the full spectrum of yourself allows your nervous system to feel less threatened when you see duality outside of you- in the world and in others. Instead of reacting or contracting, duality and nuance becomes an invitation to stay open and lead with curiosity.

We’re all deeply human and complex. We’re allowed to feel multiple things at once. We don’t have to be certain and put-together. Our wholeness lies in honoring all the parts and sides of us.

Here’s to feeling and living into all that makes us human.
