In this newsletter, I share what I’ve learned (and am still figuring out) about how to show up more fully for myself- with the hope that it supports you in doing the same. Because when we fill ourselves up, we’re so much better equipped to show up for our people, our communities, and the moment from a place of overflow, not depletion.

This week's joys🧘‍♂️

October has arrived and with it an invitation to release a looong, slow exhale. It brings an opportunity to pause. To rest. To remember the simple pleasures that bring you back to your center. Back to yourself. Lately, I’ve been puttering around a bit- cleaning and clearing space, gathering items of the season to invite autumn’s cozy energy into my home and yard (pumpkins, gourds, and mums abound!). Setting the foundation to hold and settle into this slower, darker, more inwardly focused time...

This week's joys 🍂

Hey there, friend. One of my great joys this week is to share that I'll be teaching an in-person Community Yoga class at Inner Nature in Finksburg! This class will be offered on the first Wednesday of each month from 6:15-7:45pm. The first class will be held this Wednesday, October 1st. Yoga means "union"- a remembering of our connection to ourselves, to one another, and to something greater. This community class is a space to come home to that sense of connection- through the breath, through...

This week's joys

Hey there, friend. Quick note: If you’re new around here or simply missed the email that started this weekly joy ritual of mine, you can read it here. My favorite band, Florence + The Machine, ask in their song, Free: "Is this how it is? Is this how it's always been? To exist in the face of suffering and death, And somehow still keep singing." I think that it's simply what it means to be human (or really, to simply exist). To find ways to hold both- the despair and the joy. To not lean too...

This week's joys

Hey friend. It’s been an interesting week (I think we say that every week these days). And yet, here we are. Breathing. Being. Taking it all in. And then hopefully processing all the emotions that come up along the way so they can move through us and be released. Sometimes, though, we can’t get out of our head long enough to actually feel and process. One of my deepest joys is offering ways you can drop back into your body and the moment. So, let’s take a moment to drop in together: Take a...

This week's joys

So, I’m well aware that gratitude/daily joy practices can sometimes feel a bit cheesy. They have the potential to give off major Pollyanna vibes. At the same time, science backs up their benefits. When we make a habit of noticing the good, our brain starts to rewire itself. These practices shift us from spiraling into the abyss of everything that feels hard, heavy, or frustrating, and gently redirects our attention toward what’s working. Over time, it builds optimism, resilience, and a deeper...

This week's joys

I’ve noticed how easily my mind obsesses over what’s not right, whether it be in my own life or in the world. I can feel the constriction and resistance to what’s happening (or not happening) settling into my body and mind. I become lost in my head- replaying the past, getting hung up on the things I should have or shouldn’t have said/done (and the shame that surrounds that), mentally rehearsing conversations in an effort to try to control the future, spiraling in anger and frustration at all...

This week's joys

Hey there, friend. I hope you are well. I hope you’re taking some moments just for yourself. I hope you’ve been noticing and appreciating all the little joys and blessings in your life. This little ritual of mine, making a list of my weekly joys, has helped me to reconnect. To my body. To my breath. To the moment. Even when the moment feels all consuming. Even when it’s heartbreaking. Because it’s important to feel it all- both the joy and the despair. Feeling is what makes us human (and what...

Joys amidst the blahs 🧡

Hey there, friend. Quick note: If you’re new around here or simply missed the email sharing this weekly joy ritual of mine, you can read it here. (You know, if you want a little context) So, I have to admit- I've felt a bit blah this week. Not completely- I came into it happy and well rested from my vacation and grateful for the privilege to get away and be in nature. At the same time, there's been this haze of something's-not-quite-right over me. Most likely due to a combination of the...

This week's joys 🌄

Hi friend! I've had many joys this week- mostly because I’ve been on vacation for half of it: We saw Stephen & Damien Marley perform at a park in Harrisburg, with a gentle breeze coming off the Susquehanna. Patrick and I escaped to Berkeley Springs, WV for a couple days. We stayed in a cute tiny home at Camp Potomac Peak (highly recommend, btw) and hiked in Cacapon State Park, experienced a hot spring bath at the Berkeley Springs spa, and mostly relaxed and took in the beautiful views of the...
