This week's joys 🌥️
|
It felt a little harder this week, to grasp at the joys. Here we are, merely a week into the new year, and the horrors perpetrated by those in charge of this country continue. I want to scream as we’re told to not trust our eyes, our ears, each other. That it was self-defense, not murder. That it’s about freeing the citizens of an oppressed country, not about oil. I’m angry. I’m heartbroken. It’s all too much. And yet, I continue to reach for the good- the little life rafts of daily joys, in all their mundaneness, to keep me afloat… This week's joys: I dropped off the final trunk load from our food drive. Together we collected over 274 pounds of food for Catonsville Emergency Assistance. Thank you all so much for your generosity. Community is truly what keeps us together, keeps us going. Cozying up on the couch with Stella. She can no longer jump up on her own, but she will saunter over to me, looking up expectantly until I hoist her up to join me. It's soothing- her snoring softly beside me while I read, write, or watch television. The fact that we’re getting more and more minutes of daylight with each day that passes. Sending love, Courtney |
